Reasons why spring and summer are the best time to kick-start your juice
detox
Whether you are looking to lose weight for
your summer holidays or to simply reunite your body with nutrients, spring and
summer is the most ideal time to begin your juice detox for many reasons.
Stocking up on refreshing summer fruits such as strawberries, raspberries,
blueberries, kiwi, etc., will get you in the seasonal mood and leave your mouth
watering for those sweet and refreshing summertime juices. There are a range of
different juice diet plans and recipes to choose from, going from 3 to 5 day
plans and fat burning to skin aware juices, all conjured from our expertise in
juice detox drinks.
Prepare
your pear
Your body requires preparation for the juice detox which includes cutting down
on; carbohydrates, caffeine, meat, dairy and sugary foods. Binging and midnight
feasts at 12am, the night before your detox begins is strictly forbidden! The
reason why is because your body needs to ease into its detox, so eating plenty
of healthy meals and drinking lots of water helps your body start. Our livers
are already working 24 hours a day to rid our bodies of the toxins, pesticides,
pollutants and chemicals, all found in the food we eat and the products we use.
The idea of a detox is to give your liver some reinforcements so that your body
has more time to repair the rest of itself. Eating steamed vegetables and
protein filled food such as fish or chicken is best way to eat, as well as
salads or fat free yoghurt. You may experience some headaches and stomach upset
for the first day or two, but hang on in there, it will pass. Losing weight
sadly isn’t always a piece of cake (don’t we wish).
Heard
it through the grapevine
It is common knowledge that drinking a high amount
of liquids is needed in the hot weather to keep your water levels up. Our
bodies work hard to keep ourselves cool and we sweat in the heat, resulting in
moisture loss and dehydration. Juices are perfect for re-energising and
revitalising and can quench your thirst, leaving you refreshed and packed full
of moisture and vitamins. If you like summer fruits, why not try a summer fruit
smoothie or juice as they will be ripe and hydrating during the time of spring
and summer. Perfect! Venturing on a juice detox is also good for your daily
vitamins and nutrients. It is recommended that a person eats 5-10 portions of
fruit and veg a day, and yet smoothies and juices allow us to cram sometimes even
more than our five a day into one drink.
Slim
and trim
Fruit is packed full of fibre and vitamins, the
main vitamins being vitamin a, c, and e. These each have their own way of
helping your body and are necessary in a healthy lifestyle and can also help
your skin quality as well as hair and nail growth. Where vitamin a regulates
the immune system and helps to fight off infections, vitamin c is an
antioxidant which protects cells against substances which damage the body, as
well as fighting off infections and foreign invaders. Vitamin e is also an
antioxidant that is fat soluble which neutralises the harmful after effects of
the oxidation of fats. Among other vitamins and good things, juices are good
for quick digestion, speeding up your metabolism and getting all of the key
nutrients into your body quickly. You may want to try a ‘fat dissolver’ juice
if you are straightforward on losing weight quickly. For those that want a
lighter and easier approach, you may want to try the berry and peachy blends
for a refreshing start to the warm weather.
